JFK students recently participated in the school’s first ever graphic novel contest, conducted by librarian Melanie Ash. The students were encouraged to create an illustrated story in the form of a graphic novel. Casey Flad and Cadence Grieve were named the winners for their story “Doggy Daycare,” while “Zoo Days” author Lily Drinkwater and “When Pigs Fly” creators Olivia LaBella and Zoe Zilberstein all received an honorable mention for their works.

“The students did an amazing job,” said Principal Deborah Smith. “The entries were creative, imaginative and fun and it was very hard for the panel to select a winner.”
