The month of September is dedicated to Library Card Sign-up Month in schools and public libraries across the country. At the middle school, librarian Valerie Ware’s annual contest for the school’s ELA classes serves to encourage students and their families to obtain library cards. Teacher Janice Laube’s sixth-grade class were winners once again.

“Library Card Sign-up Month is a time to remind parents and children that a library card is the most important school supply of all,” said Ware. “Congratulations to Mrs. Laube’s class for 99 percent of the students being East Islip Public Library cardholders.”
