High school senior William Reed competed in the 2015 NYSPHSAA cross-country championships, held at Woodbury High School in upstate Monroe on Nov. 14. In the 5,000-meter race, Reed posted a time of 17:09, finishing 47 out of 106 athletes.

“It’s quite an honor to run with such prestigious competitors,” said Reed. “I’ll be back for more!”

“This was a great accomplishment,” said East Islip Athletic Director Stephen Restivo. “Will has had a remarkable cross-country career.”

In addition to being a state qualifier, Reed earned All-League, All-Division and All-County recognition, and was honored with the Section XI Sportsmanship of the Year Award for cross-country. On the academic side, he was named an AP Scholar with Honor this year.
