Second-graders at Timber Point worked cooperatively to create a picture book that retold the story of the first Thanksgiving, which they presented as a play on Nov. 24.

With the assistance of music teacher Kathleen Carter, the students learned Thanksgiving songs like “Albuquerque Turkey” and “We Are Thankful,” and attending family members were impressed with the entire performance, held in the school’s community room.”

“The students worked very hard learning their parts, speaking eloquently and singing expressively as they described the events leading up to the first Thanksgiving,” said teacher Cathy Boudart. “The children became much more aware of the hardships that were faced by the Pilgrims and Native Americans during the 1620s.”
