Connetquot Takes Time Trip Back to the 1950s

Connetquot recognized the 50th day of school on Nov. 20 by taking a time trip back to the 1950s. Students and staff alike dressed up in ’50s style, including poodle skirts, saddle shoes, pink scarves, pedal pushers, fancy glasses and leather jackets.

Student activities included counting to 50, adding numbers up to 50, learning about important events in history during the 1950s and writing about the most important thing the students learned during the first 50 days of school. The event culminated at day’s end with a mock “sock hop” in the gymnasium, where the entire school danced to the song “We Go Together” from “Grease.”

“It was a festive day that reminded us how quickly time flies,” said Principal Deborah Smith, who dressed the part. “It was like crazy, wow – such a cool blast of a good time!”
