Train Travel Leads Career Development Kids to ‘Peanuts’

Students in East Islip High School’s career development program recently learned transportation skills to attend a showing of “The Peanuts Movie.”

The trip provided the opportunity for the students to discuss and model the use of a train schedule as well as a movie timetable. As part of the program’s travel training curriculum, the students then used these skills to board the Long Island Rail Road at the Babylon train station, and completed their journey by walking from the station to the movie theater.

In preparation for their “Peanuts” excursion, each class read a news article that discussed the history of the Charles M. Schulz comic strip and its development.
