RCK Fifth-Grade Musicians Perform at Book Night

Fifth-grade musicians from Ruth C. Kinney performed at the school's annual Barnes & Noble Book Night on Dec. 2. The annual fundraising event, organized by the RCK PTA, was held at the bookstore’s Bay Shore location, which was decorated with RCK student artwork completed with art teacher Dana Belfiore.

Angela Stewart’s violin and string bass ensemble – including violinists Mariella Batista, Samantha Gut, Filomena Herpfer, Madison Lozyngier and Dariyah Woodward, and string bassists Reese Clark, Rhiannon Donahue and Olivia Simonetti – performed traditional tune “Chanukah, Chanukah” and the Mark Williams-arranged “A Perpetual Motion Christmas.

Band students under the direction of Lynda Maniscalco – including clarinetists Raffaela Carone, Riley Kramer and Zachary Zhang on clarinet, and flutists Emily DePinto and Sarah Smalley – performed several holiday duets, including “Dreydl Song,” “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” and “Up on the Housetop,” assisted by student-teacher Omar Ore-Quinones.
