After 11 gripping rounds, sixth-grader Toniann Santamaria correctly spelled the word “tenacity” to win the middle school’s annual Scripps National Spelling Bee. In second and third place, respectively, were seventh-graders Jillian Bradley and Mia Lembo.

A total of 42 students participated in the bee, which was coordinated by teachers Brian Deedy and Ann Mingione. Michelle Wagner served as the announcer.

“This year’s spelling bee was packed with many students, parents, staff, and administrators, and our classroom winners were excited to compete,” said Mingione. “Congratulations to all who participated."
