Connetquot Celebrates 100 Days

Connetquot celebrated the 100th day of the school year on Feb. 23 with a variety of meaningful literacy and mathematics activities, held throughout the school day.

Students demonstrated how they would look as centenarians; counted to 100 by ones, fives and tens; created crowns with 10 ten-frames that equaled 100, and made T-shirts and posters displaying 100 items. All of the building’s second-graders worked on “pizza posters,” cut into 10 slices. The students topped off each slice with 10 different things for a total of 100 items.

Paying tribute to the 100 days of learning that have taken place, the celebration came to a close with a sing-along of “100 Days of School,” arranged by music teacher Aaron Ely to the tune of “I’ve Been Workin’ on the Railroad.”
