RCK Digs into ‘Pi’

Students and staff at RCK celebrated Pi Day on March 14 by doing various activities in their classrooms to discover Pi. Some classes graphed the digits of Pi creating a skyscape, some viewed videos explaining the meaning of Pi, while others computed Pi by measuring the circumference of a circle with yarn and the diameter with a ruler, then practiced their division skills to find Pi.

During all of that day’s lunch periods, sets of three staff members competed in a special “Pi”-eating contest to be the first to find a Hershey’s Kiss in a plate of whipped cream.

“The students found this part of the celebration quite entertaining as did the staff,” said Principal Hillary K. Bromberg. “Celebrating Pi was as easy as pie.”
