Viewing Viscosity at Connetquot

Teachers David Lake and William Young and teacher assistant Marguerite Marinaro conducted a science investigation on viscosity – the ability of a substance to resist flow – with their fifth-grade class. The Connetquot Elementary School students  tested a substance called sodium polyacrylate (aka "waterlock"), a material that can absorb over 200 times its mass in water, used in such products as baby diapers, detergents and artificial snow.
