Trash Transformed into Cash

Pairing with the Great River Fire Department, Timber Point Elementary School’s fifth-grade eco-class sponsored a “Don’t Throw It in the Trash, Turn It into Cash” community garage sale on November 12 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

Teacher Jen Giordano, organizer of the classroom’s green initiatives, called it a “great success,” enthusiastically describing the array of environmentally helpful, student-crafted items that were sold at the event, including upcycled crayons, bags made from snack wrappers, eco-calendars, bowls made from old vinyl records, earth lollipops and reusable grocery totes. Proceeds will support Timber Point’s recycling projects.
