High school senior Emily Orski recently completed her seven step project toward attaining the prestigious Girl Scouts of America Gold Award, utilizing her creative talents to crochet blankets and hats and then donating them to pediatric cancer patients at two local hospitals, Southside Hospital in Bay Shore and Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

“I chose this project because I have always had in interest in pediatric care, and the gratitude and thanks that I received from the hospitals made every second worth it,” said Orski, who will receive her Gold Award, which is the highest level of achievement in Girl Scouting, at an upcoming ceremony later this year.
