Leaders Recognized by Suffolk Zone

High School seniors Loren Borelli and Chris Higgins were honored as winners at the 2016-2017 Suffolk Zone Awards dinner, held on Dec. 7 at the Hyatt Regency Long Island in Hauppauge. The Suffolk Zone Chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance presents these awards annually to the top male and female physical education students in each Suffolk County high school’s graduating class.

Winning students are chosen for their strong contributions to the overall positive tone of their physical education classes as well as the school, and must fulfill rigorous criteria including an A average or above 90 in high school physical education classes, an overall grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the completion of junior year, and demonstrations of outstanding character and leadership qualities.

“Lauren and Chris are leaders in their physical education classes and possess characteristics such as integrity, compassion, leadership and a great work ethic,” said Athletic Director Stephen Restivo.
