Alise Becker-Santa, the district's recently retired assistant superintendent for instruction and personnel, was honored at a Dec. 8 Board of Education meeting for earning the New York State School Counselors Association’s second annual Administrator of the Year Award. The award was originally presented at the organization’s fall conference.

On hand to recognize Becker-Santa’s achievement were Dr. Robert Rotunda, the NYSSCA’s executive director; Dr. Barbara Donnellan, the NYSSCA’s past president; and middle school guidance counselor Peter Cabral. Her successor, Paul Manzo, presented her with an honorary East Islip diploma.

“What was most important to me was having the opportunity to serve such a wonderful community over the years, and to be recognized by people I have worked so closely with,” said Becker-Santa.
