Every year, high school students in teacher James Connell’s video production and broadcast television classes take the reins to produce and film their own live variety show program, Embers Coffee House. Throughout the morning, their classmates cycle in and out of the broadcast room, serving as an appreciative student audience. More than 750 students attended this year’s Embers.

Student performers– ranging from musicians to comedians – included Mal Brewster-Holland, Amber Carr, Gabriella Commisso, John Fasano, Evan Mauner, Annie McClain, Isaiah Robertson, Katie Spina and Damian Vargas. Working hard to ensure the event ran smoothly were student staff members such as producers Sarah Hillman and Tommaso Rotella, technical director Meaghan McCaffrey, audio technician Bailey Nelson, barista Rob Iadanza, and hosts Vincent Hardy, Steven Murello, Noah Palmieri and Betsy Ruhrold.

“Everyone really enjoyed the event,” said Connell. “My special thanks go out to all of the performers and staff for working at Embers, the teachers who brought their classes, as well as the high school administration who help us run a safe and enjoyable event each year.”
