Two of East Islip’s bowling champs are bound for Briarcliffe College. With their mothers and proud coach Harold Cooley in attendance, Nancy Baione and Alexa DeFazio, both seniors and members of the high school’s girls bowling team, signed national letters of intent to bowl for the college, where they have been awarded scholarships. DeFazio will major in graphic design, Baione in marketing.

“It is a well-run bowling program,” said Cooley, who explained that the two incoming freshmen will attend the Patchogue campus and bowl for the college in that town’s Bowl LI facility.

East Islip High School’s girls team won the Suffolk County tournament this season, qualifying them for the NYSPHSAA State Tournament on March 3.
