East Islip High School’s Rich Llewellyn made a splash at the qualifying meet for the New York State boys swimming championships last month at Suffolk County Community College. Llewellyn finished in fourth place (25th overall in New York State) in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:46.29. Breaking a team record, he placed second in the 100 butterfly (14th overall), finishing in 52.28. His impressive showing at the state qualifiers snagged him a spot with the Section XI team at the championship meet in Buffalo.
