Kaitlyn McCall, a student at JFK, was honored by the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association for her achievement in the 31st annual Young Poets Contest. McCall’s poem, “Dreams” was considered “outstanding” by distinguished poetry judges and selected from 2,700 entries for the fifth- and sixth-grade category. She attended a June 4 ceremony commemorating the 198th birthday of Walt Whitman.
