The East Islip High School Mock Trial team placed second in Suffolk County in the statewide Mock Trial Tournament on March 28, held at the Alfonse D'Amato Federal Courthouse in Central Islip.

Competing in the Suffolk County finals against William Floyd High School. the team did an outstanding job arguing their case before Judge Madeleine A. Fitzgibbon, supervising judge of the Suffolk County District Court. Although they did not win the competition, East Islip's team successfully defended their client and earned an acquittal for the defendant. The team

"I couldn't be prouder of them," said East Islip High School's Mock Trial director Patricia Lester. "Even though they didn't place first, they are still champions."
