BOYS VARSITY TRACK AND FIELD
The boys varsity team crushed Hauppauge on April 24, winning the League IV competition 103-38. Called the “athlete of the meet” by coach James Connell, senior Nick Palladino scored in both the shot put (second place) and discus (third). Other East Islip top performers included Shane Martensen (first and second in the 3,200-meter run and 1,600-meter run respectively), senior Jonas Elliott (a personal best throw of 40-6 in the shot put ) and senior Ryan Smith (placing in both long jump and triple jump).

GIRLS VARSITY TRACK AND FIELD

The girls track team defeated Hauppauge 96-54 on April 24. Emma Hallowell won the shot put (26-4), 100-meter hurdles (17.4) and long jump (15-2), while Alyssa Febbraro was victorious in the 100-meter run (13.2), 200-meter (28.2) and 400-meter (65.4).
 
GIRLS VARSITY LACROSSE

East Islip decisively beat Riverheard on April 24, winning 20-6. EI was led by freshman Nicole Levy, who tied her career-best in points, notching 8 goals and 3 assists. Carlee Ancona also had a strong game with 3 goals, 1 assist and 4 draw controls. Other  EI scorers were Victoria Gregson (3 goals, 1 assist), Lisa Olen (2 goals), Jackie Niciforo (1 goal, 1 assist), Shannon Cummings (1 goal) and Mackenzie Houghton (1 assist). East Islip goalies Krista Ancona and Lee-Ann Salim made 2 and 1 saves respectively.   

BOYS VARSITY LACROSSE

East Islip’s boys team fell 13-10 to Half Hollow Hills West on April 23, despite Robert Rohan’s 7 saves. Scorers for EI were Sean Spruyt (4 goals), Jack Hannigan (2 goals), Joe Modica (2 goals), Tyler Rigo (1 goal), Tyre Brown (1 goal) and Robert Sconone (3 assists).
On April 25, they lost 17-7 to West Islip. Scorers for EI were Spruyt (2 goals), Hannigan (1 goal), Bobby Kenney (1 goal), Matt Walter (1 goal),  Modica (1 goal), Dakota Lopez (1 goal), Rigo (2 assist), Robert Sconone (1 assist) and Tyler Mittleman (1 assist). Goalie Rohan made 6 saves and allowed 13 goals; fellow EI goalie Sean Sconone made 4 saves and allowed 4.

SOFTBALL  
East Islip’s softball team (now 8-1) crushed Riverhead 13-3 on April 24 in a League III/IV crossover game. Alyssa Groneman went 3-for-3 with 2 runs, a home run and four RBI, while Heather Zenk went 3-for-4 with 2 runs. Courtney Blake was the winning pitcher for EI, while additional home runs came from Shelby Heyward and Kelsey Fileccia.
The team and pitcher Blake won again on April 25, beating West Babylon by a 6-1 score in another League III/IV crossover contest. Juliette Polis went 2-for-3 with 2 runs, Heyward went 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and two RBI, and Groneman homered.
 
BASEBALL
On April 24, the East Islip baseball team beat Whitman 16-2, with John Dondero as the winning pitcher.  Dondero went 4-for-6 with five RBI, Ken Rotunno went 3-for-4 with five RBI, Nick Calautti with 3-for-4 with 1 homer. Casey Stengel also homered.
A day later on April 24, they played Whitman again and shut them out, 11-0, to improve EI’s record to 10-1. Winning pitcher Rotunno threw a complete game 4-hitter with 5 strikeouts and went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Dondero went 2-for-3 with 1 RBI and 3 runs

GIRLS VARSITY GOLF
East Islip fell to West Islip 5.5 to 3.5 on April 23, but rebounded to beat Deer Park 9-0 on April 24 at Timberpoint Red Golf Course. On April 24, Kim Schmidt shot a 10-over-par 46 at Bellport Country Club to spark EI to defeat Bellport 8-1. Coach Judith A. Fischer noted that East Islip’s 2012 girls varsity golf team is the school’s largest ever, with 16 girls participating.
 
BOYS VARSITY TENNIS
On April 24, East Islip defeated Sayville by a score of 4-3. Matt Talamo and Frank Artusa beat Kevin Siao and Patrick Madison at second doubles, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the deciding match.

MIDDLE SCHOOL GIRLS LACROSSE
The middle school girls lacrosse team won an exciting 8-7 victory over Eastport on April 26, led by a strong performance from goalie Cailee Greco. "She made some amazing saves to help keep us in the lead," said East Islip coach Melissa Love. Scorers for EI were Rachel Florenz (2 goals), Samantha Levey (2 goals), Sara Wright (2 goals), Taylor Lungrin (1 goal) and Amanda Moccaldi (1 goal). "The whole team played well to secure this win," added Love.
