The East Islip School District is looking for dedicated volunteers from the community to serve on its districtwide committees, working in a wide variety of areas from making budget recommendations, improving student achievement and planning for professional development initiatives to reviewing the district’s programs, technology plan, facility needs and transportation service costs.
“Our district embraces a shared decision-making approach which involves all constituencies, parents, staff and administrators in discussing matters that will have an impact on our students and our district – now and in the future,” said Alise Becker-Santa, East Islip’s assistant superintendent for instruction and personnel. She encourages parents and community members to avail themselves of the opportunity to be selected to participate on the districtwide committees established throughout the school year.
Among the committees listed for 2012-2013 are two brand-new committees, the Transportation Committee and the Long Range Planning Committee, joining the district’s four pre-existing committees (Excellence in Learning Committee, Finance/Budget Advisory Committee, Professional Development Committee and Technology Committee). East Islip residents who are interested in getting involved and making a difference can complete the application
