Matt Brown, an East Islip High School senior and enthusiastic member of the high school’s new Medical and Health Technology Career Academy, spent three weeks during the summer of 2012 at the prestigious Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y.

Brown, who plans to be a veterinarian, was at Cornell’s Summer College soaking up knowledge in the school’s Veterinary Medicine: Small Animal Practice course, an experience that not only provided him with a formal, academic introduction to veterinary medicine but earned Brown three college credits.

The varsity wrestler, Eagle Scout and avid bagpiper wrote about his educational stay at Cornell in an essay titled “Cornell Story.”
