On Oct. 9, at approximately 3:40 p.m., a Suffolk Transportation bus driver noticed that two suspicious unidentified youths were observed walking in the vicinity of Meadow Farms Road in East Islip. There were no students on the bus at the time, and the district and Suffolk Transportation reported the incident to the East Islip Police Department.
On Oct. 10, the principal of Timber Point Elementary School was informed by several parents of an incident that occurred during the afternoon trip home from school on Oct. 8. At some point during the trip, damage was noticed to a side window of the same bus. It appears to have been hit by a hard object, causing it to splinter, as the window remained intact. Upon being notified of this separate issue today, the district contacted the police department immediately with this important information.
Please be advised that the district has been informed that the police department is treating these occurrences as two unrelated incidents, and they are investigating accordingly.
Thank you for your time and attention as we together maintain watch of our neighborhoods.
