The high school’s boys bowling team is off to another amazing start. In just the first six matches, these athletes have posted some large numbers and currently trail first place by only two points.

Leading the team with a 227 average, senior Joe Zagari bowled a perfect 300 and 30 clean frames in a Jan. 26 match against Lindenhurst High School, while Jack Baranek and team captain Dylan Sgueglia both rolled 299s against West Islip on Jan. 21. In the latter matchup, East Islip posted a high game of 1,299 for five bowlers and a three-game series of 3,398 pins, the county-high total for this season. All five starters – also including Sebastian Gebhard, averaging 205, and Shawn Watts, averaging 216 – are among the top 12 leaders in the league. Rounding out the team, coached by Judith Fischer, are Andrew Jacobsen, Michael Lorefice, Brenden Muller, Adam Seibert, Niko Stavropoulos, Gregg Stephens and Matt Sundberg.
