East Islip High School’s junior varsity boys and girls golf teams have recently found a good way to get in some extra practice on rainy days, thanks to the installation of a new golf swing simulator. Facilitated by Athletic Director Steven Restivo, the Mevo+ Launch Monitor is housed at nearby East Islip Middle School.

“I was trying to figure out a way to stay competitive with our local schools that have JV golf programs,” coach Christopher Robertson said. “I realized I had an unused practice room that was just the right size to fit in a swing simulator. When I told Mr. Restivo my idea, he threw his full support behind it. The custodial staff were very helpful and were able to paint the room in our school colors. We finally got all our equipment right after winter break and were able to set up the new simulator. It works well and can analyze your swing.  The Mevo+ tells the distance, spin, carry, club head speed, ball speed and smash factor. It even has five virtual courses and driving ranges you can practice on. The kids love using the simulator and it comes in very handy on rainy days. We look forward to getting better each year, and this device will certainly help both our teams.”
