Birds of Prey Presentation Comes to Connetquot

Birds 7, Birds 12, Birds 18: Quogue Wildlife Refuge environmental educator Tony Valderrama’s birds of prey presentation at East Islip’s Connetquot Elementary School thumbnail217837

Quogue Wildlife Refuge environmental educator Tony Valderrama recently visited East Islip’s Connetquot Elementary School, bringing along several of his fine feathered friends for a birds of prey presentation. Excited students were able to see a live Eastern screech owl, great horned owl and red tailed hawk, learning the personal history of each native New York bird and why it lives at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge as well as the adaptations that allow these animals to be such incredible hunters.

The birds of prey assembly was organized by Connetquot’s PTA, using BOCES Arts in Education funding.
