The East Islip Middle School Choir performed the national anthem and closing music at a May 3 naturalization ceremony held at the Long Island Ducks’ Fairfield Properties Ballpark in Central Islip.

The event, held in honor of Law Day and presided over by U.S. Circuit Judge Joseph Bianco, was hosted by the Robert A. Katzmann Justice for All: Courts and the Community Initiative, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of New York James Wicks administered the Oath of Allegiance to 240 citizenship candidates – residing in Nassau or Suffolk County – from the following 51 countries: Afghanistan, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Israel, Jamaica, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Lebanon, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, Uruguay and Yemen.
