High school senior Harrison Gieraltowski has been named a Commended Student by the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program. An exceptional student as well as an All-State musician and Rensselaer Medal winner, Gieraltowski was recognized for his outstanding results on the 2014 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. More than 1.5 million students entered the NMS competition; Gieraltowski and the approximately 34,000 other Commended Students finished among the top 5 percent nationwide.

“I was pretty surprised to be named,” said Gieraltowski. “But I am happy about it and proud of myself.”
