High school orchestra student Victoria Keenan was awarded a $500 scholarship from the Long Island String Festival Association. The freshman, who serves as the concertmaster of the school’s honors symphony, was selected for this scholarship from hundreds of applicants in both Nassau and Suffolk counties.

This year Keenan was chosen for both the LISFA Orchestra and the SCMEA All-County Orchestra, and received a top score on her NYSSMA solo in April. She was also appointed as first violinist in the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra.

“Victoria is an extremely hardworking, diligent young lady,” said Susan W. Rydzeski, the school’s orchestra director. “I am extremely proud of her, and it's a great honor for our program and Victoria.”
