STEAM Brings Tower Technology to East Islip Elementaries

Students at JFK recently took part in a "Tower Challenge,” part of the district’s new STEAM program offered to all students in grades K-5. The objective was to create the tallest free-standing tower using 10 large red cups, 10 paper cups and 20 small clear cups.

Technology teacher William Lackner, serving as East Islip’s STEAM leader this year, has been working with classroom teachers as they bring their students to the new makerspace rooms located in each of the four elementary schools.
