At the East Islip School District’s June 10 Board of Education meeting, the district honored the students of East Islip High School’s Career Occupational Readiness Education (CORE) program, which connects special education students with unpaid internships as part of the school’s work-based learning program, and the School Business Partnership, which consists of business professionals, teachers, administrators and students who work together to design programs and activities that enhance student curriculum.
The Board also recognized the terrific achievements of high school athletes, including the Unified basketball team, the 2025 Long Island champion varsity girls softball team, the 2025 Suffolk County champion varsity boys and lacrosse teams, and the spring 2025 inaugural varsity flag football team.
Lastly, the following teachers and teaching assistants were honored for achieving tenure: Gabriella Belvedere, Jacklyn Buddenhagen, Nicole Cremer, Kristin Fryer, Kristianne Haran, Juliette Incandela, Lisa Kriss, Cynthia Levine Serena Ruggiero, Taylor Stockert, Helen Ting-Brodsky and James Tucker.
