East Islip High School boys and girls winter track teams recently qualified for the 117th annual Millrose Games, considered the most prestigious indoor track and field competition. This will be both teams third consecutive year attending this meet, which will take place Feb. 8 at Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory in New York City.

The girls 4x400 meter relay team – Danielle Birner, Grace Micali, Danielle Simonetti and Danika Tidridge – qualified with a speedy time of 4:02.72, placing 1st for the Long Island 4x400 relays.

The boys 4x400 meter relay team – Aidan McConnell, Zach Mezzapesa, Joseph Norrby and Colin Weber – qualified with a time of 3:30.02, placing fifth for the Long Island 4x400 relays.

“Congratulations to both teams on this outstanding achievement,” physical education teacher Nicole O’Connor said.
