East Islip High School’s varsity boys wrestling squad, guided by coach Mike Longobardi, put together an outstanding week of competition, highlighted by multiple victories over top-ranked opponents.

First, East Islip defeated Long Island’s #1-ranked Bellport by 47-24 in front of a packed house with standing-room-only crowds. The momentum continued as the team knocked off North Babylon, the #2-ranked team in Suffolk County, by a score of 38-28. 

EIHS capped off the memorable week by capturing first place at the Cliff Clark Classic Duals meet at Bay Shore High School. In the semifinals, East Islip topped #6-ranked Patchogue-Medford with a convincing 40-24 win. In the finals, they faced #8-ranked Sayville, securing the championship with an exciting 38-34 victory. With that performance, East Islip became the #1-ranked boys wrestling team on Long Island.
