Congratulations to East Islip High School’s varsity football team and coach Sal J. Ciampi for capturing the Suffolk County championship this past Saturday night. Top-seeded East Islip (10-1) defeated nemesis Half Hollow Hills East, 24-17, in the Division II showdown at Stony Brook University’s LaValle Stadium to earn their third county title in the last five years and 10th overall. Senior halfback Jake Simmons had a stellar game, rushing for 244 yards and two touchdowns.
“We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication and heart you bring both on and off the field,” Superintendent Paul Manzo told the players. “You continue to represent EI with excellence and pride. A huge thank you to our coaching staff for your leadership, guidance and countless hours committed to helping our athletes grow and succeed. Let’s keep it going!”
