East Islip fourth and fifth graders at John F. Kennedy Elementary School and Ruth C. Kinney Elementary School competed this winter in the 39th annual Town of Islip Sharp Shooter Basketball Contest, sponsored by the Islip Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs. In schoolwide competitions, students faced a challenge of trying to score as many baskets as possible within a one-minute time limit. A total of 35 local elementary schools participated, with each school sending its four proud winners (one fourth- and fifth-grade boy and girl) to attend the townwide Sharp Shooter competition, held on March 1 at East Islip High School.
JFK’s 2025 Sharp Shooter first-place winners were Amelia Block, Jayden Eugene, Clara Kohlhoff and Luca Roenelt, with the second-place winners being Connor Greene, Madison Hoehn, Eugene Kelly, Matthew Kennedy and Kaylee Meyer.
RCK’s 2025 Sharp Shooter champions were Lucas Gonzalez, Ben Jenuszkiewicz, Leila Pena Martinez and Mia Rizzo.
