East Islip High School freshman Hallie Klein recently won Le Premier Prix, or the Platinum Award, in Le Grand Concours, a national competition of French literacy, where students are asked to sit for a 60-minute exam consisting of listening and reading comprehension questions. Klein earned a perfect score in both the reading and listening sections of the contest.
“I really enjoy learning the French language and culture, and I hope to keep learning French throughout high school,” Klein said.
“As Hallie's teacher, I would like to add that not only did she achieve this perfect score, but she is also an inquisitive student and a beacon of information to her peers,” teacher Maya Iwanejko said. “I am very proud of her accomplishment.”
