East Islip High School’s girls varsity golf team capped off an outstanding season with a 9-3 record, finishing second in the league and earning the opportunity to compete as a team at the county championship at Pine Hills Golf Course. While the team fell short of advancing to the second day of competition, senior captain Sara Pepp delivered an incredible performance, shooting an 88 in round 1 to finish among the top 10 players and advance to round 2. Battling through a challenging second round on the difficult Pine Hills course, Sara secured a ninth-place finish and earned a spot in the state championship tournament, to be held June 7-8 at Wild Wood Country Club in upstate Rush, New York.
“Congratulations to Sara and the entire team on a tremendous season,” coach Bill Lackner said.
