East Islip High School’s August Graduates Celebrate Perseverance

East Islip High School honored six new alumni – Diego Barcena, Aaliyah Campbell, Nicholas Cusumano, Juliana Kroll, Ranae Lyles and Laquane Torres – from the Class of 2026 in a moving summer graduation ceremony in the high school courtyard on Aug. 26. Also honored with a diploma that night was the late Gabriella Torrey-Krilov, who was on track to graduate high school a year early.

Kroll, Lyles, Torres and the Torrey-Krilov family were in attendance at the event, receiving diplomas from Principal Anthony Montemarano, who addressed the graduates along with Superintendent Paul Manzo and Board of Education President Stephen Ruland.

“Today is a celebration of perseverance and success,” Manzo said. “Your journey may not have followed a traditional path, but you stay committed and reached this important milestone. Your diploma represents more than completing high school – it represents your determination to overcome challenges and finish what you started. You have earned this moment. Take the lessons you learn, believe in yourself and carry that purpose into whatever comes next, whether it be the military, career or college. Make the best of it and enjoy it. We are very proud of you and wish you every success.”
