East Islip High School’s girls basketball program celebrated the terrific accomplishments of Class of 2023 graduates Kaelyn Gordon and Sara Simonetti, inducting both alumni into the Lady Legends club prior to the current team’s Dec. 21 game.

During the pair’s four years in high school together, the team compiled an overall record of 55 wins against just 16 losses. Gordon and Simonetti claimed three out of four league titles together, won at least one playoff game in each of those four seasons, and advanced to a conference final as well as a county championship game. In terms of individual school records, Gordon ranks in the top 10 all-time in rebounds and top five in blocked shots, while Simonetti is second in points scored and first in three pointers.

“Congratulations to these two fine players and the entire girls basketball program,” coach Michael Petre said.
