East Islip High School AP Environmental Science students went outside on Earth Day to celebrate our planet, working together to pick up litter surrounding the school property.

“Picking up trash helps to reduce pollution that can harm wildlife by causing entanglement or ingestion,” science teacher Lauren Ferlin said. “Litter can also contaminate water and soil, impact ecosystems and potentially impact human health. By removing litter, we can prevent these negative effects and contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment.”
