East Islip High School threw open its doors on Aug. 28 for an eager group of incoming freshmen, marking the first step in their transition from middle school to the high school years ahead. Principal Anthony Montemarano and assistant principals Gregory Leger and Michael Thorley greeted the Class of 2029, kicking off the morning orientation with a comprehensive presentation designed to familiarize students with the ins and outs of high school life. Following the session, the ninth graders met with their guidance counselors and received their schedules for the 2025-2026 school year. They then embarked on a tour of the building, visiting classrooms and learning how to use their lockers. Upperclassmen volunteers served as guides, offering directions and helping the freshmen get comfortable in their new surroundings.
