East Islip High School seniors Jack Kalinowski and Emily McIntee were recently recognized as winners of the 2025 Suffolk Zone awards for contributing to the overall positive outcomes of their physical education and health classes as well as their school.

This award is presented by the the Suffolk Zone Chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance to the top male and female physical education students in each Suffolk County high school graduating class. The criteria include attainment of at least a 3.0 or B overall grade point average, an A or 90 in physical education and health classes, outstanding character in both classroom and school, exceptional leadership in the school environment, and status as a physical fitness role model for other students.

“Jack and Emily make an outstanding effort to be cooperative, honest, poised, self-confident, attentive, industrious and enthusiastic toward all class activities,” said Steve Restivo, East Islip’s director of health, physical education, athletics and nurses. “In addition, they are always working to support the instructional efforts of the class.”
