East Islip High School seniors Thomas Buchan and Danielle Simonetti were recently selected by the school’s physical education department as this year’s winners of the Suffolk Zone Awards. 

This award is presented annually by the Suffolk Zone Chapter of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance to one senior male student and one senior female student who exemplify excellence in physical education and health while making meaningful contributions to the school community. Recipients are recognized for their cooperative spirit, honesty, poise, self-confidence, attentiveness, strong work ethic and enthusiasm in all class activities. In addition, they consistently support the instructional goals of their classes and serve as positive role models for their peers.

“This is a prestigious honor, and we are proud to recognize Thomas and Danielle for their outstanding achievements,” said Steve Restivo, East Islip’s director of health, physical education, athletics and nurses.
