For nearly 13 years, East Islip High School students in Jovina Bratta's American Sign Language class have shared holiday spirit through their annual Sign Along, held this year on Dec. 19. During the visit, high school students interpreted popular holiday songs in American Sign Language for fifth graders at John F. Kennedy Elementary School, while also teaching the alphabet, numbers and other basic signs through fun, interactive games. Both the high school and elementary students enjoyed the experience, which helped promote Deaf awareness while spreading holiday cheer.
