Students in teacher Heather Toomey’s Digital Imaging and Design classes at East Islip High School again worked together to create both color and black-and-white mandalas while learning the tools of Adobe Illustrator. As in past years, the illustrations were compiled into a digital class coloring book, with the students voting for color pieces by Ava Gonzalez and Giuliana Natale to grace the cover.

“I am so happy to continue this beautiful mandala tradition,” Toomey said. “We already have copies in the school library for students to color and would like to share it with the community in hopes they will enjoy the book as much as we did while creating it. This is the first year that we had a tie for the cover, and I thought it would be a nice idea to recognize both students. I believe their color choices complement each other and make the cover even more interesting.”

“I really enjoy this course, and so happy my class picked us for the cover,” Gonzalez said.
