The East Islip softball team won the Town of Brookhaven Summer League 18U varsity championship on Aug. 12, defeating the LI Express, 6-0, in the finals. Cate Ropiak pitched a two-hit shutout, while Marisa Renganeschi stole three bases and scored two runs. East Islip finished the season with a 10-2 record, and Renganeschi was named Summer League MVP.
