East Islip High School’s boys wrestling team sent their top four varsity wrestlers to compete at the Eastern States Classic last weekend at the Impact Athletic Center in Albany.

Senior Rocco Destefano (132 pounds) placed sixth overall, earning a spot on the podium in a highly competitive field. Eighth grader Jace Rooney (103 pounds) went 3–2 on the weekend, picking up several tough wins against experienced competition. Senior Christian Horeis (190 pounds) finished 1–2, while junior Gryffin Alfalla (150 pounds) went 0–2, gaining valuable experience at one of the toughest tournaments in the region.

DeStefano also etched his name into the East Islip record books last week, setting a school record with 88 career pins, surpassing NCAA finalist Jesse Dellavecchia.
