East Islip High School inducted 12 outstanding new members into the East Islip chapter of the Math Honor Society on June 3. These students join eight second-year members and two dedicated third-year members in demonstrating not only exceptional achievement in mathematics, but also a deep commitment to academic integrity, service and a true appreciation of the subject. The ceremony, held at the high school’s forum, was facilitated by Math Honor Society adviser Denise Seibert.
The Math Honor Society recognizes students who have excelled in their math coursework, contributed to peer tutoring and community outreach efforts, and actively promoted a love of mathematics throughout the school and local community.
“I am incredibly proud of the members of the Math Honor Society,” Seibert said. “One of the most rewarding parts of this experience has been watching them grow as leaders – stepping out of their comfort zones, taking initiative and embracing new challenges. I look forward to hearing about all their future successes and the joy they find along the way.”
“Congratulations to all of our new and returning Math Honor Society members, and thanks to Mrs. Seibert, whose support and guidance continue to inspire our students in their mathematical journeys,” Director of Mathematics and Science Dr. John Genova said.
“The newest inductees’ hard work, problem-solving skills and love for mathematics have earned them this impressive recognition, and we are so proud of their dedication,” Superintendent Paul Manzo said.
