During May and June, the seven East Islip Middle School students in Hal Kench’s Technology Club – Madyson Carioscia, Anna Fantauzzi, Madison Greene, Sachin Kamath, Ava Miranda, Connor Schaper and Shain Sheridan – contributed to school beautification by creating new benches for the school’s courtyard. “These benches have been in rough shape ever since I was hired in 1998,” Kench said. “Mr. James Ryan, the head of the building facility, asked if the Tech Club would be interested in creating new benches for all to enjoy, and my students couldn’t pass up the change to make some sawdust! The club members showed up early every day and came in after school on many occasions to get this huge project completed before the end of the year. I couldn’t be prouder of their hard work, dedication and school pride.”
